CHARLEVOIX COUNTY COURTHOUSE RESEARCH

As most of you know, the county courthouse burned back in 1887 when it was located in Boyne City- during a dispute over which city would eventually become the county seat. At that time, many of our early land and mortgage records were lost. On a recent trip to Charlevoix, I visited the Registrar of Deeds Office and obtained this listing. These are the Libers that are missing, so if you locate one of your ancestor’s names in the index and it lists one of these volumes, no further record will be available to you.

RECORD OF DEEDS (MISSING) LIBERS: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 15, & 17.

RECORD OF MORTGAGES (MISSING) LIBERS: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 18.
